United Soccer Club Teams Up With City of Vista for Field Renovation
North
County United Soccer Club, a SoCal Athletics chartered club, recently teamed
up with the City of Vista to renovate the turf at Townsite Park. This park,
one of only a handful of city facilities large enough for a soccer field was
closed down because of the condition of the field. This rest period is
routine for the city but this year, NC United purchased all of the materials
necessary to amend the soil and re-seed the field to better prepare it for
the coming season. Said SoCal Athletics President, Scott Phillips, "These
fields are the primary outlets for our children to participate in sports
activities and the sports clubs in our community have a responsibility to
maintain and enhance them. Most of the time, the wear and tear of the fields
and facilities are left up to the city and tax payers. Whether it's soccer
fields for NC United or the school gyms for SoCal Volleyball Club, we borrow
these very valuable assets from the city and school district on a regular
basis and we should give them back when we are done better than we borrowed
them. Ultimately, artificial turf on the fields makes the most sense to make
them available year around." Townsite Park will re-open at the beginning of
May for the annual Townsite Soccer Program. Pictured above are Rob Anderson,
